Sombo Equipment

 Note: Jerry Matsumoto gets all his gear from Sombo Joes.

Freestyle Sombo competitions usually require:

• Kurtka - Similar to a Judo Gi, a blue and red kurtka are normall required for competition, although a wrestling singlet is sometimes an option.

• Sambofki or Wrestling Shoes - Sambofki are the soft shoes with ankle support worn in Sombo

• Grappling Shorts - Sombo shorts should match the kurtka worn and be tight fitting. Alternatives are wrestling singlets or strapless trunks.

• Groin Protector - Required.

• Mouth Guard - Required.

• Knee Pads - Optional.

• T-Shirts - Normally T-shirts are not allowed to be worn underneath the kurtka for safety reasons.
